Painting pup raises $3,000

Netop is a four-year-old terrier mix who has an unusual talent. He paints. His human mother, Jacqueline Karch (who is also an artist), calls him an “abstract expressionist.” Recently Netop, along with the Wilmington, North Carolina, Children’s Museum, presented his works at a fundraiser to help equip local fire departments with the Surgivet® line of animal resuscitation masks. Local television station WECT covered the event, relating the story of a dog that was rescued from a fire in Wilmington five years ago and was saved by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Now, thanks to Netop, the fire departments have the proper equipment to rescue pets. His paintings fetched $3,000, enough to purchase 53 sets of Surgivet® masks.
